How do free gifts work?

Build a gift pool (the products that can be gifts), then attach it to a discount step. Each step sets whether gifts are optional or required, how many the customer can take, and which gifts start preselected. You also choose how much freedom customers get: any gift from the pool, only your preselected gifts, or locked exactly as preselected. Gifts are free at checkout.
